The fifth edition of the East Africa Art Biennale - EASTAFAB 2011,
will take place in Dar-Es-Salaam
from November 2nd until November 16th, 2011.
A great selection of fine artists from the five countries constituting the East Africa Community (Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda) will participate and have their recent works (paintings, sculptures, photographs, ceramics, installations) displayed at five different venues across the city which are: Alliance Francaise, Goethe Institute, Nafasi Art Centre, La Petite Galerie, and Southern Sun.
The biennale 2011 will also have international guest artists from other countries of Africa, Europe and from the U.S.A. All the selected venues will have the biennale exhibition displayed and open to the public.
The opening of the exhibition with take place on different dates depending on the venue starting from November 2nd and all venues will display the exhibitions from their respective start dates until November 16th 2011.
Programme:
The official launch of EASTAFAB 2011 will be the occasion for a special ceremony hosted by the Alliance Francaise of Dar-Es-Salaam (November 2nd, 6.30pm) and a show will be staged by performing artists on this evening.
The participating art centers will have special celebrations Goethe Institut (November 3rd, 6.30 pm),
La Petite Galerie ( Oysterbay Shopping Complex, November 5th, 1 pm )
and Nafasi Art Centre (Mikocheni B, November 5th, 6.30 pm) with performances to stir the Bongo Town art & culture life and move the public at large from one event to the other.
All events and exhibitions are free.
